FAQs
What makes The Actors Division different?
Our classes cater for students who want to advance their training in a more challenging environment with young actors who are like minded and keen to learn. Our students are treated like working actors with responsibility to their scene partners and the ensemble. Our method gives kids the practical skills they need to have a career in the entertainment industry.
Why is The Actors Division selective?
In the same way that there are elite programmes for music, ballet, tennis and gymnastics, The Actors Division specifically caters for students who wish to take their training further. As such, we are an audition only school.
My child lacks confidence – is this the class for them?
Whilst even the most talented actor at times struggles with self-belief, the students at The Actors Division are in class because they are passionate about acting and are willing to work hard. Your young actor may not be ready for the challenge now but given some time — things may be different!
Is talent more important than passion?
Not at all! As they say, talent is only a small dose of inspiration and a large helping of perspiration. While many of our students are already working in the industry — all of them are, first and foremost, passionate and committed to learning the craft. Exposure to good training at a young age opens a world of possibilities and amongst our students are future writers, directors, producers and, crucially for our arts industry, the audiences of the future.
This all sounds very serious – are the classes fun?
Yes and of course the joy comes from the challenge and the satisfaction in achievement, in slowly but surely developing skills and an appreciation for the craft. Responsibility and respect for the ensemble is key and students are expected to learn scripts, research and contribute to the group.
Is your child doing too much?
These days, most parents are all too aware of over-loading their child. School work, a glut of extra-curricular activities and the ‘fear of missing out’ can create undue stress that is counter-productive for the creative mind. If your child is already under pressure with their current workload, please take this under consideration before applying to The Actors Division.
